Maurizio Ciampi is a polymath musician: conductor specializing in the Italian operatic repertoire, pianist, and organist. A rigorous and visionary interpreter, he integrates musical philology, dramaturgy, and performance practice within a historically informed hermeneutic framework.
His international career traverses theatrical, academic, and institutional domains. His artistic and scholarly activity is grounded in a conception of art as critical epistemology, ethics of responsibility, and cultural leadership.

"Pioneering interdisciplinary research that bridges tradition and innovation in operatic studies."
I believe that learning is most effective when students are actively involved in the process. For this reason, my courses include practical projects, classroom discussions, and collaboration on real-world problems.
My goal is not only to convey technical knowledge, but also to develop critical thinking and the ability to solve complex problems.

Through a careful study of historical sources and manuscripts, students will be guided in the in-depth exploration of the operatic and oratorio repertoire, with particular attention to the analysis of the historical and stylistic evolution of the selected works. This methodological approach will foster the development of a profound awareness of the cultural context and performance practices characteristic of the period in which these works were conceived.
The course offers an in-depth and rigorous analysis of the evolution of orchestral instruments, as well as instrumental and choral ensembles, examining their development in relation to the principal musical movements that have shaped the repertoire. The methodological approach adopted will enable students to acquire a critical understanding of the stylistic nuances and performance characteristics inherent to the symphonic and choral repertoire, thereby fostering a conscious and contextually informed engagement with the works studied.
I have devoted my efforts not only to the promotion of Italian music, but above all to the teaching and dissemination of Italian opera from a philological research perspective. My work has focused on authentic interpretation and the valorization of original scores, with a careful approach to historical sources and performance traditions. This has enabled Chinese students to acquire not only the technique and stylistic understanding of the Italian operatic tradition, but also a profound respect for its authenticity and cultural roots.
I explored in depth the analysis of original scores, stylistic evolution from bel canto through Verdi's dramatic intensity to Puccini's modern lyricism, and historical performance practices including Italian vocal technique, orchestral stylization, articulation and pronunciation.
